PARKINSONISM

Parkinsonism, or Parkinson's Disease, a neurodegenerative disease, may show early signs of tremor at rest and slowness of movement but be followed by problems with unstable gait, falling, ‘freezing”, rigidity, drooling, mood disorders, dementia, handwriting difficulties, fixed facial expressions, infrequent blinking, very quiet speech, sleep disorders, inability to smell, problems with bladder and intestinal function; sexual dysfunction. Some of these may be controlled with dopamine medications others that require other forms of therapy.

Treatment from StemcellRegenMed consists of the following:

  1. Neurogenesis in which patients will receive injectable and oral agents to stimulate the patients own neuron cells near the substantia nigra.
  2. Autologous stem cells extracted from the patient’s peripheral blood or bone marrow.
  3. Neuron stem cells that secrete dopamine derived from umbilical cord blood and mixed with brain neuropeptide; neurotrophins; nerve growth factor; transforming growth factor; vascular endothelial growth factor. These will be administered either intravenously with an agent to assist the neurons and nerve growth in going through the blood brain barrier but in most instances will be given intrathecally through the spinal canal for more penetration into the central nervous system.
  4. Post procedure consists of continued emphasis on stimulating the patient’s own neuron stem cells and nerve growth factors as well as the new exogenous stem cells that were administered intravenously or into the spinal canal and central nervous system. This will be done with both oral and injectable agents.
  5. Anti-oxidants; anti-inflammatories; agents to reduce excess levels of the neurotransmitter glutamate; and reduce programmed nerve cell death(apoptosis).
  6. Patients will be followed at the StemCellRegenMed Clinic and/or by regular appointments via telemedicine webcam.
