STROKE

Stroke is caused by bleeding or clotting of a blood vessel in the brain . The resulting damage to the brain depends on the region affected. Patients may have paralysis or weakness of an extremity; loss of sensation in the affected area; speech problems; temporary or permanent loss of memory

Standard care would include management of a bleeding cerebral vessel if present or i.v. medications to treat a clotted blood vessel. Following stabilization patients receive physical, speech and occupational therapy for prolonged periods of time. Residual permanent brain damage may occur with some patients.

Treatment from StemCellRegenMed includes the following:

  1. Neurogenesis in which agents are given by mouth and injection to stimulate existing small niches of stem cells in the brain.
  2. Autologous stem cells from the patient’s bone marrow or peripheral blood are given intravenously.
  3. Neuron stem cells extracted from umbilical cord blood are mixed with brain neuropeptide, neurotrophins, nerve cell factor and vascular endothelial growth factor are given intravenously plus an agent to penetrate the blood brain barrier or depending on the patient’s general and neurological status the stem cells and nerve growth factors are administered intrathecally into the spinal canal and central nervous system.
  4. Post treatment the patients continues to get oral and injectable agents that stimulate brain neurogenesis. Follow up care is done at the StemcellRegenMed Clinic and/or by telemedicine web cam conferences.
